how can i mount a hard dive

i have win 2k on one drive and linux on another with a third for file storage i can mount the w2k os drive but not the file storage drive.
It is master secondary ide and in ntfs format
i get a message saying:
could not mount device.
Thereported error was:
mount: can't find /dev/hdc1 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab/
