    Do I need to reinstall?

I have been runnng 5.10rc for a couple of weeks now and keeping upto date with adept (which I must say is brilliant), but now that the 'official' 5.10 is out do i need to re-install or will my adept 'automagically' move me to current?

    Thanks in advance.

If you're keeping up to date, you've got the official release.

Actually, ive been doing that also. running the preview for a while, and now when its out ive updated to it, well ive been updating breezy everyday with synaptic. My problem is that i dont have Adept in my Menu and other programs that should be in the menus like the "guidance control thingy" and things like that. Ive been wondering if im missing out on some repos and so on. How do i know if its all is uptodate?

Ive installed gimp also with synaptic, and still no gimp entry in the menu, same with adept. ive installed it after final breezy was out. cause i unmarked it when i saw it was going in when i was updating under the rc state.

So why arnt my program showing up in the menu and why do i miss some programs?

just checked the programs, katapult is installed. but by launching it by terminal by just typing katapult nothing happends, trying the alt+space doesnt start it either. so what should i do? reinstall the whole system?

Re: Do I need to reinstall?

Well, got helped with the menu and i know understand what guidance control was

Anyhow, i needed to rebuild the K-menu with kbuildsycoca: wich Rebuilds the system configuration cache.
And when i did that it told me my disk was full and some other errors. then i did a ls -l /var/tmp/kdecache-libben/ksycoca and it told me it was root root, and i was told it should be libben libben =) as it is my username i login with.

So i did $sudo chown libben.libben -R /var/tmp/kdecache-libben/ and then i did run the command kbuildsycoca again, and the menu was working proper again.

Props goes to Riddell who did the steps with me.

Hmm, alt+space is not getting me to katapult. as it should be. anyone else? 8)

Is Katapult running? If yes right click it's icon -> Global Shortcuts and "Show Launcher" should be Alt-Space.

I helped with the guidance control on IRC (go me! )

Re: Do I need to reinstall?

Here is what I did do to get katapult running after an Hoary -> Breezy upgrade:

            Alt+F2, then type in katapult

Let it wait ca. 15 secs, then press Alt-Space and it should come up. It will hopefully be started again automatically in the next kde session, but I haven't tested that yet.

One problem though: I do not see any katapult icon anyhwere in the control panel, and right clicking the big icon that comes up with ALT-Space doesn't do a thing. Therefore, I cannot change any settings atm.

            Cheers,
            Dominik
