change tab length in kwrite

In kwrite, the default tab length (i.e. the number of spaces the cursor moves when you hit the tab key) is 2 chars. How can I change that to 8?

And yes, I'd rather be able to do this in kwrite than kate. I looked at kate a while ago, but there was something I didn't like about it. So I've stuck with kwrite, even though I don't remember what it is that I disliked about kate.

Settings >>Configure Editor >> Editing >> Indentation select tabulators, and edit the spaces as desired.
