    Configuring Kontact

I have a dell inspiron 1545 laptop with 4gb of ram. I set up kontact - kmail, kaddressbook, etc - and noticed that the fan on my laptop was running almost constantly and my laptop was running hotter.

Is there a way to configure this to be lighter on resources? When I use thunderbird I don't have those problems.

You will have to figure out which application is using so much power, it's likely associated with the kontakt-kmail group but could be any of many...

Pressing Ctrl + Esc will bring up a system monitor, clicking CPU% in the top bar will likely show you the culprit.
Report it here and you can get a better shot at fighting it.

It looks like virtuoso-t is at the top of the list. Any idea what that does?

        It indexes your emails.
I do not personally use Kubuntu, but I'm the tech support for my daughter who does.

I disabled nepomuk and will see if that helps. I can live without having my files indexed.

I turned off the indexing and turned off nepomuk and within 10-15 minutes my laptop cooled down and the fan went back to normal. Thanks for your help guys! I appreciate it.
