Why do you make someone post w/out a link before they can include a link?

Spam control. There are people and bots that go around and create logins on many sites just to post spam/porn links. Usually they post once and are gone.

Our link and image posting requirements are actually quite low compared to some, though many also use this sort of thing to encourage posting and interaction. We use it for spam control.
