    Problem with Firefox

    Hi all,

    I'm using the following.

    Kubuntu 12.04 LTS

    KDE Platform Version 4.8.5 (4.8.5)

    Firefox 18.0.2
    Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu
    canonical - 1.0

    I'm finding that when I use Firefox to do a Google-based search, a dialog
    box often rises from within the bottom of the Firefox window.

    Does anyone know how to switch off this functionality ?

    I'm that fed up with this functionality that I'm using Chromium to post this,
    although I prefer Firefox.

    Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give with this.

    Look in your add-ons. see if there is something you can disable.

      Got the same OS, KDE, and FX as you (except my FX is 19.0.2) -- Yet I do not get any dialog box as you describe.
      Do you have an add-on, or did you sign up for something w/Google?

        Good morning Rob,

        Thanks for the reply/pointer. I went into Tools/Add-ons/Extensions "tab" and found "Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 2.6" which is now disabled. No more "creepy" dialog box! ;-)

          Thanks for the reply. No, I didn't sign up for anything with Google. However, the problem is now fixed. See my previous reply to Robtygart.

            Interesting again ...
            I also have Ubuntu Firefox Modifications 2.6 ENABLED, but I get no such dialog box! What counts is what works, and you got yours fixed!

              Good morning Mike,

              What is even more interesting is that, even though the "... Modifications" are now disabled, on visiting a website (Ican't remember which one :-( ) this dialog box once again crept up the screen. However, it has been just that once. So, the problem is fixed, sort of.
