Problem updating software/removing software.

I get an error message when I tried updating software.

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

The same error message occurred when I tried removing a crappy video-game creator package.

Anybody have any suggestions?

This can/usually occurs if you have two (or more) instances of the package manager running. Ensure all package managers are shutdown, then start just one instance.
