    Crash?

I think my laptop is crashing but to be honest I don't know. With windows you know when your pc crashes but ever since I installed kubuntu my laptop goes blank randomly. It first goes to a black sort of command line screen with a cursor flashing then the screen just switches off and I have to hold the power button down to turn it off.

I hope somebody can help, it happens a lot when I'm doing Uni work

How much RAM has your laptop got? Could it be that you're exceeding the available memory?

Hmm, my laptop used to do this when I closed the lid.

Pressing Ctrl-Alt-F7 took me back to KDE though.

I tried using ctrl-alt-f7 and it stayed blank. Also none of my hotkeys work
