    Partition Lock-Ups

    Hey  Guys....

I'm not a COMPLETE n00b to linux, but I've encountered a weird problem.

I've Installed Kubuntu before but ended up erasing my entire HD for other stuff, Yesterday I figure "Hey, I'm gonna install Kubuntu again" (Note that I am using a REALLY crappy/old computer) Anyway, I download Kubuntu for my 86 box and write it to a disc. I put the CD into my old computer and try to run Kubuntu live. It looks like it was booting up okay, but then it just stopped. I was like "WTF" and then the screen went blank...

So, I decided to just use the alternate ISO, so I download that and put it on a CD. Then I put the disc in the old computer and boot up installation. Everything was going fine 'till I started the partitioning.  I got all my partitions set up and hit "Finish and write partitions to Hard Drive" (or something like that) and it stopped at fiftysomething percent. I thought "Oh, probably just a glitch or something" So i rebooted, started the installer, re-set up the partitions, and the same thing happened but it stopped and a different percent. THEN I though "Maybe a defect in the CD" So I made another one, and the same thing happened. Then I made ANOTHER one, same thing. Then ANOTHER...

Note that I have had Kubuntu on the system before.

I've got an Intel Pentium III 600MHz 512 MB of RAM

Yes, I know , its REALLY crappy, but thats ill ive got to screw around with.

    Thanks

Right now I'm downloading Breezy Badger, just to give it a shot.

I'm still waiting for a reply...

      Re: Partition Lock-Ups

I've been told that the partitioner doesn't like RFS, so if that's what you were trying to use, try again with Ext3.

I am assuming that you checked the md5sum of the iso berfore you started your burning orgy. If not, check this page at the Kubuntu Wiki.
