Where is the "Add widget" tray?

This probably wins the "most idiotic question ever posted here" -prize, but I really can't find it. I want to add some widgets and everybody keeps talking about the "add widget". Where is that tray/dialogue box? Please, don't shoot

Depends on where you want to add it.

If you want to add it to the panel, then left-click the "cashew" at the extreme right side of the panel, then choose "add widgets" from the bar that pops up. You can also right-click anywhere on the panel, choose "panel options", then "add widgets".

If you want to add it to the desktop, right-click anywhere on the desk top, then choose "add widgets".

The problem with gui desktops -- all of them, including windows and kde -- is that it is obvious how to use them only if you already know how.
