I am stuck trying to install ndiswrapper

    HELP!

Yesterday I installed Kubuntu 11.04 onto my Inspiron 1520. The computer's wifi (Wireles Dell 1395) is not working I am now trying to install ndiswrapper so i can install the driver for the wifi, but now I have hit a brick wall. I have googled it and searched on the forum, but none of the answers allowes me to complete the install.

The most success i have reached so far is to get half way through this instructional video; "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0Ist...ayer_embedded", but it won't work past the command "make".

It tells me the "make" is not installed. it tells me i can install make by typing: "sudo apt-get install make"

I type this it tells me "E: Package make has no installation candidate"

I am brand new to Kubuntu, and have not used command lines since I stopped using DOS in 1995, so please explain slowly and at a beginners level.

In the search window in the upper left of this page, if you enter "BCM4312", then you will find this chip has been the subject of previous requests for help. About the third thread down the list shows one marked "SOLVED". In that one, you find this:

Unfortunately this solution will not work in my case as I have no access to a wired internet connection.

Actually the Broadcom STA drivers should be installed for this card as thje b43 drivers are a bit buggy.

alexlaird87, ndiswrapper isn't the way to go with this - you're gonna need to install the wireless driver over a wired connection - all you have to do is plug in, run Kmenu --> Applications --> System --> Additional Drivers and install the Broadcom STA driver from there.

Without an internet connection you can't compile anything, as the tools to compile are not installed in a default *buntu installation. Since you'll need to connect anyway, the Broadcom STA drivers are the ones you should use, not Windows drivers and ndiswrapper.

          Hope this helps -
