Continue booting manually using ash ?[Rephrased, unsolved]

To make a long story short:

• kernel loads.
• initrd loads.
• ash loads.
• mount fails.
• I mount the squashfs image manually on /mnt/sq.

What next?
I have ash shell. Did I have to mount the image on / , or change /mnt/sq into / later somehow?
