Connecting to the internet through a wifi pci card

Hey there, first time on kubuntu linux here!
Well, not yet technically, as I'm downloading it right now. I've used it on other occasions on other people's computers though, and from what I heard I might run into some trouble connecting to the internet.

I have a wifi network at home and this should be fine... the one thing I'm concerned about, though, is the PCI wifi adapter I use, specifically the:

NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless PCI adapter WPN311

do think it's going to be supported? I asked a linux-savvy friend of mine and he told me I should download kubuntu, and boot it as a live CD to see if my network adapter is supported. That's what i'm doing right now (downloading)

Point is: what if it's NOT supported? what do I do in that case?

    Thank you for your time,
    byez!

I don't use wireless, (I've got Cat5 cables all over the basement ceiling.), but I believe that people here get much better results with "wicd" than with "network manager", so the first thing I would do is install wicd. You may need to uninstall "knetworkmanager", as well. Search the forum for more detailed advice.
