[Solved] ATI Control Center Administration password

Hi guys, My friend and I have just moved over from Windows and are having difficulty in setting up multi-monitors.

When we bring up the normal ATI control center it tells us to use the admin one. So we load up the admin one and then type in our password Then nothing happens.

So using our limited brains, I check the auth log and it shows authentication failure as it's looking for the "root" password,

Now from what I understand is that the root account and password is disabled on Ubuntu/Kubuntu.

Any help with this would be mostly appreciated.

this threw me for a loop too when i moved to Kubuntu.
try openning a terminal window in the directory of your application (right click the directory it is in and go to actions - open terminal window here)
    then try typing "sudo thenameofyourapplication."
this should ask for a password, use the password for your account
this should then open the control you need as root

i spent weeks trying to /su before i found out there is no "root" account

NEVER use sudo for a GUI application. ALWAYS use kdesudo so for your ati control you want to run
      kdesudo amdcccle
