    [SOLVED] Can't install packages?

    Hi again,

Feel free to merge this with my other post, but I figured new problem, new topic. I can't seem to install packages. I open KPackageKit, search for packages (in this case, games), but I can't install them. When I click on one it just shows a description. The "Apply" box is disabled. How do I get them to install?

    Thanks!

    Re: Can't install packages?

    Hi and welcome.

KPackageKit: Click an arrow (Action column). The Apply button should be enabled.

    About package managers.

The KPackageKit is in its infancy. Many user are using the Synaptic package manager if they are needing a package manager gui.

More > FAQ: Package Managers and > Synaptic and the Kubuntu

Everything and the kitchen sink (about 50 MB):
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install synaptic
Only the essentials (about 3 Mb):
    Code:
    sudo apt-get --no-install-recommends install synaptic
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

Thank you! I did not realize I could click on the arrow. It's kind of hard to tell when something is selected this way. I'll definitely be using the Synaptic manager.
