    Samba network gone after while

    I created a samba network but after a view hours samba looses connection on all computers in the network.

    How to prevent this?

    Samba configuration can seem like a "black art" -- it sure does to me, sometimes. Review this guidance: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SettingUpSamba

    allowing for KDE instead of Gnome. Look at the "Manual Configuration" and "Connect via CIFS", configuring sudo, etc.

      Are you meaning a samba domain or simply a samba sharing system?

      Whilst samba is running there are two processes called multiple times, these are nmbd and smbd.

      One handles logon requests the other handles share requests. But both need to be running to have a stable samba system.

      type: sudo /etc/init.d/samba status and you should see:

      adamc@Ubuntu-Server:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/samba status
      [sudo] password for adamc:
      * nmbd is running
      * smbd is running

      if one isnt running then do sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart

      Without seeing your logs its a little difficult to find out why it went away
