Is there any way to fix this?
I think the koffice I had before was called 2.1.1-0ubuntu2 (this is 2.1.2-0ubuntu1)?
It wouldn't update so I did a sudo aptitude remove koffice and now I get this error when I try to install it...?

    Re: Broken koffice

What version of Kubuntu are you using?

The program 'koffice', and the suite of applications that go with it, are for kde-3.5. If you are running kde-4, then you need to install the koffice-kde4 package.

Note that some things are not there in koffice-kde4 yet - kexi, koshell, and maybe others.

      Re: Broken koffice

I'm running Kubuntu 10.04 64bit (KDE 4) and I had koffice 2.1.1-0ubuntu2 installed and working.

There was no problem until the 2.1.2-0ubuntu1 update came and I tried to install/upgrade it...

I think the problem might be with the ......ubuntu1 and ....ubuntu2 packages?

(the only part of koffice I actually use is Krita, I use openoffice for everything else...)

        Re: Broken koffice

If you only need krita, then sudo apt-get install krita-kde4
It will probably remove other parts of koffice, but if you don't need them, then it won't matter.

          Re: Broken koffice

          Well, that sort of worked?

I did a sudo apt-get install krita (sudo apt-get install krita-kde4 gave an error) and it installed Krita..

But when I start it the "K-menu" (and desktop+taskbar) freezes for about 30 secs and then shows a "Sorry - Plasma Workspace" error box with the text "KDEInit could not launch ,usr/bin/krita'

Krita starts OK though? KDEinit just don't register it?

            Re: Broken koffice

I did a 'sudo aptitude purge krita krita-data latex-xft-fonts ruby1.8 ruby koffice-libs koffice-data' and now I can install koffice and krita again (or just krita) but choosing krita from the K-menu still freezes the system for about 30 secs....?

I just manually added a new item in the menu called 'Krita_' and when I launch this one there is no freezing...

              Re: [SOLVED] Broken koffice

Yeah, looking through synaptic, there appears to be a mishmash of different versions of koffice programs. Hopefully it will get straightened out soon.
