how to install pidgin

hey guys.. im totally new in Kubuntu aswelas in linux.. i have installed Kubuntu 9.10 in my desktop. now i want to install pidgin or any other chatting software which ever works best in kubuntu. so plz suggest me which software i can use and how to install too :">

like i have installed vlc as: "sudo apt-get install vlc"

so like that what command will i have to use for installing that particular software which will be appropriate for chatting in msn, ym, aim, fb, irc etc...

For pidgin, you can either use sudo apt-get install pidgin or open up Synaptics Package Manager ("K" button --> Applications --> System) and search for it there.

For aMSN, you can install tk85 and tcl and then download it from their site (or install the Kubuntu version through sudo apt-get install amsn). If you install the kubuntu version, you will be prompted to upgrade. You can wait until the latest version hits the repositories, or do the upgrade from the amsn site.
