            Re: [Solved]Wireless help please!!!!!

You have a legacy Broadcom wireless. In the repository is b43-fwcutter. Install it with Synaptic. It should pull the bios out of your broadcom firmware (fwcutter) and set up the appropriate driver for your wireless chip. Your wireless light should come on and allow you to use wicd or knetworkmanager to connect to your wireless router. If your wireless light doesn't come on then reboot. It should after that.

and i just installed the driver for that yesterday.

                Re: [Solved]Wireless help please!!!!!

Wikipedia describes the 802.11 as a "family of standards".

Drivers are not "standards", they are software applications which communicate with the wireless devices according to the standards. The software applications are called "drivers" and usually are named according to the particular wireless device the software "drives". Hence, for example, you have bcwl5.inf for Broadcom devices. My Intel 5100 wireless device is driven by the iwlagn driver.
