wireless connection

me absolute beginner
i installed kubuntu on my lapi
my wireless network is available but kubuntu does not connect to it.
plz help

2) It is always useful to give the full make and model of your laptop. Is the wireless built in , or do you use PCMCIA or a USB dongle?

3) You need to run a command in Konsole Terminal Program to tell us what wireless chip we are dealing with, either

lspci

or

lsusb

thnks for replying
my lapi is aspire 5920
network manager shows my wireless network
when i click on it it stops at setting network address
and then nothing happens
wireless is inbuilt

We need more information concerning your network card and version of Kubuntu.
1) What version of Kubuntu are you using?
2) What network card/controller do you have? For this, open a console and type:

lspci | grep Network

Copy and paste the output in your reply. (It is easiest to copy and paste the command above into the console.)
