Ok, I changed from using 32 bit Kubuntu this morning to 64 bit. Now I need to know how to use the ia32-libs package so I can get all those needed 32 bit programs (Adobe Flashplayer etc) working.

Re: The ia32-libs package
You don't "use" it, as such -- it just sits in the background and lets you install Google Earth or skype or whatever, and prevents you from getting the "wrong arch" error, or having to use the "-force-architecture" option.
For flash, and the rest of multimedia stuff, follow the instructions here, including for 64-bit Kubuntu:

Re: The ia32-libs package
Easy, just install it from the package manager
but for the most part you really shouldn't have to; for example, Adobe has a 64-bit version of Flash. It even works in Konqueror on AMD64 (I'm watching stuff with it right now).
Now if I could just get the HTML video tag to work on AMD64 then everything'd be perfect

It does? Because it's certainly not giving me an option to download one.Originally posted by KeithZGfor example, Adobe has a 64-bit version of Flash.
I loath Konqueror so don't use it - I use FF.It even works in Konqueror on AMD64 (I'm watching stuff with it right now).

Re: The ia32-libs package
If you loath my favourite program of all time I'm not sure how much I feel like helping you :P But anyways the link is http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html, or directly at http://download.macromedia.com/pub/l...6_64.so.tar.gz. It should work fine as a Firefox plugin (it does for me). I used to use a 32-bit version of Firefox I had installed for when I needed flash for some thereisnogodforsaken reason, but these days Firefox 3.5 64-bit is running perfectly fine on my main (Hardy) PC. Of course that also means I don't need Firefox for much since the same reason that the 64-bit version is running flash just fine means that Konqueror does too, but at least finally people are ditching flash and Firefox works just fine for thatOriginally posted by DracoTBIt does? Yeah, it's pre-release version that they're still working on which is why I wasn't getting the option to download it. Anyway, all go now and thanx for your helpOriginally posted by HeithZGBut anyways the ]http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html[/url], or directly at http://download.macromedia.com/pub/l...6_64.so.tar.gz.
