Well hear I go agin ........LOL

I just want to say it is posable for a noob to get a good OS with Kubuntu and on old hardware!

this is a HP Pavilion XE763 700Mhz CPU 383RAM inteli810 onborde grafick's
8.04 hardy as original install upgraded to 9.04 Jaunty thrugh wirless and adept.

the wireless was setup in 8.04 with ndiswrapper and survived the upgrade just fine as did all my bookmarks and things I had in /home/vinny

Sorey if it seems like braging but I just wanted to show that it could go right .....LOL

Does it work fast? Quite amazing if it does, no current O.S. can run smoothly on those specs (especially Vista). Even OS X needs more. Seems like KDE 4 really is light on resources. Your wallpaper is quite nice.

Well it's not lightning fast............LOL ...........but not sluggishly slow eather.
the box tripell boot's XP, Kubuntu9.04, ultimalinux8.4

vist I think neads a Gig of RAM to work well 2Gig for all efeks. the new one to be releced this year is suposed to be lighter on RAM XP min. 512 RAM but XP runs ok on this box to...........it just never get's booted eneymor...........LOL.........acualey Linux dose beter than XP when using a lighter WM like KDE3 or xfce or fluxbox and not TO diferent withKDE4

true plasma is a little mutch for this box......I can crash it by geting to fast with my clickitin........but you half to realey try.
so I allso have fluxbox for a WM and it is fast in it.

and I'm going to try xfce4 today prob.

However for my neads KDE4's doing well I can surf the net fine and fast ......I can DL with Ktorrent ......and watch my .avi's with NO problem's..........e-mail.....IM......bla....bla....bla.

8) the wallpaper can be had by clicking the get wallpaper button in the apearence settings window.....rite click the desktop....... 8)
