Re: toshiba laptop screen flashes?
Hello
Sound like the problem I had and it went away when I upgraded my graphics drivers (though I have a ATI card).
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Bi...ivers%2FNVIDIA
"Go to KMenu->System->Hardware Drivers Manager and check the box to enable the restricted drivers for your NVIDIA card if the option is provided. "

Re: toshiba laptop screen flashes?
I have an intel 915 so I feel your pain
I suspect you have desktop effects enabled, if so turn them off (system settings/desktop/desktop effects as I believe that (at least with the current xorg iteration) these are beyond the capabilities of the card. If I turn Desktop effects on, I get precisely the issue you talk about, if I turn them off, it goes away.
That the problem?

Re: toshiba laptop screen flashes?
You could see if things are better with kde 4.2 - I am currently running 4.2 1 which is very good. You can get info on it here:
