Open a terminal and enter:

sudo apt-get remove kwlan network-manager network-manager-kde

I don't think it will be able to find the last two, because they were removed earlier. But just in case they slipped back in somehow.

After that continue with the previous instructions.

I should have asked you which version of Kubuntu you are using. Are you using 8.04 or 8.10?

They changed things in KDE4 (which I don't use).

It is 1730 hrs where I am. Must be well past midnight in Sweden.

If running Intrepid Ibex (KDE 4.1), the execution of kdesu from a console will (almost certainly) fail due to (what I believe is) a faulty path setup. If you press Alt+F2 to get the run dialog, type:

kdesu kate /etc/resolv.conf

Mistake on my part in my last post. I corrected it to read kdesudo. The problem is he was trying to open resolve.conf instead of resolv.conf.

Indeed its 3.30 at night and I just woke up ... some things wont just settle, even during sleep I'll have a look at this in the morning

Yes Im using 8.10 with KDE 4.1 .. fault on my part not saying so in the first place

When I use the command

kdesudo kate /etc/resolv.conf

I should enter the Default Gate as 3rd nameserver right ?

Followed the guide 2 times now and don't know what I do wrong :S

Edit; just so I get my numbers correct, those listed on Local area connection status in my windows connection, give me IP, Subnet Mask, Default Gate, DHCP server & DNS servers, those should be sufficient shouldn't it ?

Yes, those should work if you are using a static IP, but if you don't then use dhcp, and the only other info from windows that you will use is the addresses of the DNS servers. Are you connecting through a router, or directly to your modem?

No. Edit out the last three lines. You only need those if you are using a static IP.

Did you put a "return" after that last line? After you type the line, push the "Enter" key so the cursor goes to the next line, then save it and exit the editor.
