Re: I'm trying to get rid of Kubuntu...

Do me a favor: Use EasyUbuntu. it works with Kubuntu now.

To download, open the console and type this:
    Code:
    wget [url]http://robotgeek.org/eu/easyubuntu-3.0-beta.tar.gz[/url]
    tar -zxf easyubuntu-3.0-beta.tar.gz
    cd easyubuntu
    sudo python easyubuntu.py

Re: I'm trying to get rid of Kubuntu...

After reading through your posts here is my advice:

Scrap everything you have, re-install windows.  Although you should use XP.  Then reinstall Kubuntu.

I have been in the same boat and it takes a deal of effort to get used to Kubuntu over XP.  But with a little time and patience you will get over any issues you have.  Google has been a proven help with commands.

If you want to keep your system configured as is, here is how to fix your issues:
      https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats

Only install what you need.  I only installed the files directly related to MP3's.

Also if you dedicate an hour or two each night and give it a try, you might find yourself pleased.  I still have my use for Windows, but thoroughly enjoy Kubuntu and starting to make a home.

Although I have limited knowledge, I try and learn what I can, whenever possible.  Patience is a key issue for us newbs.

      Hope this helps.

make a folder on your desktop, drag the zip file to it. Open the folder, extract the folder here. right click on the unzipped .deb and choose instal. Done Garry
