    Which version of Kubuntu are you using?

    I have just loaded 8.04 with a DWL-G122 straight out of the box.

    All worked perfectly first time.

      Could be a USB permissions issue, but what to do about it I don't know.

        pretty sure that ubuntu, Kubuntu doesnt like those, i had the same problem, I had to hard wire my computer. If you find a way to do it, share. I think you need something special, isnt the receiver FOR windows

          Then, install Ubuntu and make it Kubuntu by following this guide. Easy mode.
