I have a .run file, what do I do?

Hi, I downloaded unreal tournament for linux, it is ut-install-436.run. If I click on it, it opens in an application called Kate, which says it is a binary file and saving it will corrupt it. Is a .run file like an exe? I am new to the whole linux desktop thing so I am clueless! Please help me

right-click on .run file:
permissions --> ✓ is executable

open application called "Konsole" and type in there:
/home/your_user_name/path_to/.run
