Setup a Counter-Strike: Source Dedicated Server

    Hi guys,

I'm new as ****, so I have no idea if this is totally normal or not:

I'm creating a Kubuntu backed Source Dedicated Server, now I'm doing this via http://www.srcds.com. And all the sudden they ask me to make a file called, "Server.sh"/

As i'm doing this everything is fine, and when they tell me I should paste it inside my cstrike folder which is in home/srcds_l/srcds_l/cstrike/. The map has a big "Lock" on it, and says I can't go into the map nor, paste, nor do anthing in that map, because of the big MF-ing lock.

So please someone, tell me how to UNlock this friggin' thing, and maybe I can finally setup the Source Dedicated Server I have always dreamed of.

    Thank you,
    XzeBitioN

Just a quick idea looking at the howto.

You state Server.sh, while on the howto its server.sh.

In windows they would be the same, but Linux is case sensitive and sees these as different things, though as its just a wrapper it should be OK.

In your server.sh, have you pressed return at the end of the last line? the script needs this so it can execute the line.

I must play CS:S again, not played for ages.

Yes both, actually :P, the problem is I can't paste the damn thing into the cstrike folder, because of the big-ass LOCK on the folder.

And yes, go play again, the game is incredible, and over the years it's been improved so install steam again, shame on you for not playing for ages!! :-X

Oh, sorry, I misread. A lock on the folder, so its a permissions problem.

Right click on the folder in konqueror or dolphin and look at who owns it. If its n your home folder it shoud be you, unless you are running this as another user.

2 options, add yourself to the group that owns the folder and make sure that group have read and write access. Other option, press alt + f2 and enter 'kdesu konqueror' navigate to the folder, right click and set the ownership to yourself.
