    Mager Adept Manager crash

I tried to run sudo apt-get update as Apt Manager crashes every time I touch it, I got a load of data and then it told me I needed to manually run the command mentioned above, when I did this it said
    dpkg --configure -a
dpkg: requested operation requires superuser privilege

how do I get this as I really don't want to have to boot from the live cd and reinstall everything again. This is the second time I've had this crash and last time it took out my windows partition and I lost everything!! I now have Kubuntu installed on the whole disk but I'm in a vicious circle of being told there are packs to download installing these then being told there is a system upgrade installing this and then having Adept Manager crashing with this backtrace.

Please explain simply, although a very experienced windows user this is a totally new ball game.
    Thanks

    Re: Mager Adept Manager crash

    Try

    Code:
    sudo dpkg --configure -a
This command requires Super User (root) privileges to run.
