    Unknown Plugin (audio/mpeg)

    In some of webpages I go to it says "Additional plugins required to display the media on this page" (I use Firefox). So I click that and it tells me "Unknown Plugin (audio/mpeg)". I've tried searching and can't find a thing about it!
    It happens on pages that have a music player or something, etc.
    So how do I install this plugin? Thanks!

    Firefox2
    Kubuntu 7.04

    Let me know if you need any more info.

    (sorry if this is a stupid question, I just can't figure it out)

    I'm running the 8.04 Alpha version, so my repositories might be slightly different than yours. However, here is the list of relevant packages that I have. Open your Adept Manager and if you see any of these that are not installed, mark them and install them:

    flashplugin-nonfree
    gnash
    gnash-common
    kubuntu-restricted-extras
    mozilla-plugin-gnash
    mozilla-plugin-mplayer
    mozilla-plugin-vlc
    mplayer
    vlc

    Also check this out, regarding RealPlayer:

      I installed most of those (couldn't find gnash-common, kubuntu-restricted-extras, and mozilla-plugin-mplayer, but I got the rest)
      Now it's telling me Unknown Plugin (audio/midi)

        Re: Unknown Plugin (audio/mpeg)

        Well, it kinda depends on the particular stream they're using. There are some proprietary streams that you aren't going to play at all -- sorry. For example, Rhapsody.com -- although you may be able to install that with 32-bit, but I can't with 64-bit. Turner Broadcasting has a proprietary stream too. You might try experimenting with RealPlayer if you think it might be a Real stream.

          Something like this:

          <embed src="randommusicfile.m4a"
          width=25 height=25 autostart=false repeat=true loop=true> </embed>

          or like this

          <embed src="randommusicfile.m4a">
          <noembed> <bgsound src="randommusicfile.m4a"> </noembed>

          won't play. They'll play just fine if I download and play in amarok

          EDIT: just noticed... Now flash (like a youtube video) wont work after I installed those things.

            I just removed mozilla-plugin-gnash and now flash works again.

              It appears that it is looking for quicktime. I don't know how to get that working with firefox. Someone else who actually uses firefox might.
