Adept busted(Solved)

I messed something up. When trying to apply updates I get:
There was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages.
Pls help.

Open a console and type:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

sudo apt-get autoclean

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install

hmmm....I installed java manually. Apt is trying to update java? After following your commands i get
The package sun-java6-bin needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.
I have java plugin installed in firefox. I think I tryed to get java through adept but it did not work due to the fact that I could not agree to license agreement in adept. I then installed manually. I must not have deselected JRE in adept after manual install.

Installing any of the JRE packages is best done from the CLI (command line), as Java presents a EULA (End User License Agreement) which you must answer/click OK to or it doesn't get installed. Doing the installation in Adept Manager, I believe, still presents the EULA, but it isn't 'popped' to the top of open windows, so users don't see it.

Even easier than that! I should have noticed before hours of frustration that I had a repo disabled. Enabled and tada. But all of your suggestions are what led me to the answer. TY

Isn't it amazing that the 'easiest' problems are always the 'hardest' to figure out!
