Help using repositories

I'm trying to install startup manager. It resides in the Universe repository. How do I enter the repository, find startup manager and get it installed?

Do you have Synaptic? If you don't then connect to the internet, open a terminal and input

sudo apt-get install synaptic

(Assuming you are using 7.10 Gutsy.) In Synaptic open Settings>Repositories. Then on the front tab - "Ubuntu Software" make sure that the first four boxes are crossed. The second box is Universe. If necessary do a Synaptic Search for startupmanager.

IIRC in Kubuntu, when you choose "Manage repositories" in Adept, it launces an aplication that lets you choose the sources(like in synaptic).

I don'r really know how it is called, as I'm using aptitude and apt-get now
