    Scanner Recomendation

My scanner died. I need a new one.

Who has a recommendation for a good, cheap, scanner that works with Gutsy? I would like to stay away from the all-in-ones that seem to be so cheap right now. I have plenty of printers, but need a scanner.

    Thanks for the help

    Re: Scanner Recomendation

    start by looking here:
    http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html
Then maybe pick a brand/model you may have seen in a store. You will want to check out the [backend link for the scanner for more detailed info.

As you will see, there are tons of scanners, and quite a lot are supported, as well as many that are not, even with the same brand.

Often, the scanner needs a firmware file from the windows driver disk, but it may also be available from the backend maintainers' sites.

I recently bought a Canon LiDE25 for about 60-70 $, it works out of the box in Gutsy (but notFeisty). I saw it in the store, and went to the sane website to check out before i bought it
