Can not see modem

I installed the new version of kubuntu and i am using a dial up phone modem. it does not see the modem. the modem is an internal modem from about 2003. and suggestions on how to get this OS to see the modem? i can get on-line using the eithernet modem but i need to use the phone modem on this PC.

There's a strong possibility that your internal modem is a 'soft' modem (winmodem). Check here for information.
