I've got my nvidia drivers installed and working, and i've had it running on my computer before, but this time it's giving me all kinds of troblem, (getting it to install was hard before because it couldn't find libgtk or glibc both of which i had installed.) So now that it installed im just to pissed to mess with it anymore right now, so anyone got any idea's?

Ummmm -- I'll venture to speculate that glx is not working. :P

You can test it by opening the Konsole and entering
    Code:
    glxgears
Sooooooooo, if that's the case, then your Nvidia driver is not, in fact, correctly installed, unless you have a really old card and driver combo that doesn't do glx.

My personal preference is to use the Envy script installer. Here's the basic process:

Hope this helps! I saw your sound problem -- we may want to revisit the sound chip and driver situation on that, too, but prolly you want video first.

na, i've got a new(ish) nvidia 6200 with 512 ram and it's worked great until now, but this was what glxgears gave me.

      *********@surt:~$ glxgears
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

Well, there you go -- try the Envy route and re-install that Nvidia driver!

well, that did it, but it messed with my refresh rate, so it looks a little funny on a few windows... but thanks, it's working great now... only gotta get the sound working now.

You should locate the refresh specs for your monitor (go to the manufactures web site and/or Google search your montitors make/model) and make the necessary corrections. Incorrect refresh rates could damage you monitor.

i'll work on that tomorrow, but i can't ....ing belive i get the video working for et, and the sound stops working... oooooooh, i'm really getting mad about this sound problems, it's just expanding.... kinda like microsoft.... it just gets bigger and badder the more you resist.

Anyway, thanks for all the help. Would have taken me months to do all this granted how mad i've been.

              You guys are awesome.
