wireless connection problem right after installation

    Hi all,

I am just a new Kubuntu player, get it downloaded yesterday and managed to installed properly in my Dell Dimension.

I know Linux relies on the network pretty much but the very first problem is I cannot connect to the wireless network I had, which can be seen from the right bottom of the task bar, it showed me the option (AP) I have, but I just cannot connect them! It normally takes seconds in Windows, as it does not have password, (WEP) at all.

Is there any problem or any further setup / configuration I forgot?

    Thank you all in advance!

Do you know what kind of wireless adapter you have?

Hi, it should be Dlink something.

it's PCI interface, worked pretty well in XP.

i can see the available AP in the range by clicking the icon at right botton of task bar, but when i click the one it always showing 'connecting...' then 'configuring device' afterwards, it just stopped showed a red cross on the icon. failed.

I have not had that happen before. Is it possible that the AP is configured with WEP/WPA and the password/key is incorrect? Or maybe that the AP is using mac filtering and your machines mac is not in the list?
