VMWare - How do I start it?

I installed both the VMWare player and server. I can't find an icon for either of them anywhere. I Hit ALT+F2 and tried typing vmware, vmwareserver, etc but I am getting nothing. Anyone know how to fire the sucker up?

Did you run the "configure.pl" routine?

No, no I didn't. I had no idea! I assume that is in the install dir? I'll do some searching and see if I can find it. I just installed Vmware from the RPM I snagged from their site, I assumed it would do everything it needed to do.

I looked in all the places Vmware is supposed to be but could not find anythign called configure.pl, I also did a search for "configure.pl" but nothing was returned. Any ideas?

Essentially what I am wanting to do is run a virtual machine for WinXP or Win2k. I also tried using Virtualbox but get the following error (I tried installing it again and it did not fix it):

Essentially I really don't care which one I use (Virtualbox or VMware) as long as it works I am happy.

Curious, but why didn't you install the vmware player available in Adept Manager?

What dible means is this in a terminal:

          Code:
          sudo /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl
I am not sure if it works in your case (rpm install)

          By the way why rpm?

Try it and find out you can't break anything.

Have a look at this it has some very good advice. It is based on drapper but works with any kubuntu.

          and read this:

vmbox is okay but has issues with sharing files which is what you probably need especially if you already have a win installed.

In which case this should be interesting:
