I put the disk in I ordered, rebooted, windows opened but nothing else, used start to go to my computer, clicked on cd drive, for a few seconds got a window saying kubuntu browser opening, window closes, then nothing. What?

Go into BIOS and make sure the CD ROM drive is first in the boot sequence.

Try to hit F2 or del or even F12 right after your computer boots. The key needed will change with the computer or mainboard maker. It can even be some comboas CTRL+ALT+ESC. Usually a message will be shown at boot with a hint.
It will show a menu with loads of options. Check for some one that sounds like "boot order", and put the CDROM first.
BIOS is a small program that is run when your computer boots. It main task is to load the OS.
