    Install Problem

    I am trying to install 5.10 on a Dell 9150, 3.2M, 160 Gig hd, 512M ram...

on install it did not recognize the network card and on boot it hangs up on a line that states "checking battery state" ...don't know if the two are related...hard drive is a Maxtor 6L160M0....looks like an IDE drive, but was detected as a SCSI...

    any ideas...

    thanks,

    j

      Re: Install Problem

You should boot install with noacpi in command line. It's somewhere in the F? buttons.
I had same problem on my laptop...

If it's not doing it on install, you should change grub to add this option, but you will have no more acpi...

For your harddrive, it's because it's sata, no ? If yes, it's normal.

ok, i tried that, ithink its F6...it then goes to the command line, but then when i try to "startkde" i get a bunch of error messages...and then back to the prompt...

also, it still won't recognize the nic card...

i've installed kubuntu on three other machines without any problems...

its ashame i can't get this one up and running as it is my son's(14) dual boot box and he showing interest in learning about linux...

anyway, i appreciate any and all help..
