The modem should be at /dev/ttyS[0-4] depending on where it is connected. As far as kppp you could run 'dpkg -l | grep kppp' to see if you have it installed. If not you can just run 'sudo apt-get install kppp' and that will install it for you.

This is my first try with this distribution, and it will not see my external modem, it is an actiontec external modem, on Mandriva it recognized it, also I cannot find the kppp, when I click on add new program it dings and then nothing, please help me, thanks
