cant find any programming tools

the last few distros i have dealt with always had programming tools available. i am not a Linux guru or anything (i have been a novice for about 10 years now) but i do want to make that switch over from gates and co. can someone help me with getting c++ compilers.

pretty please with cherries on top.

Install the build-essential package. You can use apt, or any package manager like adept.
