Please understand that I have never tried to use a satellite internet connection, so I may be completely off track here, but I suspect that you have some kind of gadget that connects your computer to the satellite antenna, the equivalent would be a cable, dsl, or telephone modem. How does your computer connect to the "satellite modem"? Do you use a ethernet type connector (looks like a overweight telphone jack), or a usb connector? Do you have an internal home network with several windoze machines or macs connected to a single interface to the satellite? Most important, is your satellite internet service provider linux friendly, or do they only support windoze? If it's the latter, don't worry too much, some of us are used to that. If you can answer these questions, we'll be in a much better position to help you.
