    IDE disk

    Hi,

I've installed the Kubuntu Linux on a SCSI disk (connected to my Athlon XP 2500+ Barton based computer).
Recently, I've added a new IDE 250GB WD HD and installed the WinXP on it (for the kids gaming and docs ).
The switching between OS-s is performed via bios (by sellecting the appropriate boot device).
The WinXP recognizes the SCSI disk, but the Kubutu doesn't recognize the IDE WD disk.
Is there a way to make Kubuto to recognize a IDE disk, since it isn't displayed by the KInfoCenter utility ? I can't mount the device because it isn't recognized ...
I'm planning to run the WinXP under VMWare.

    Thanks

    Zeev

Kubuto to recognize a IDE disk, since it isn't displayed by the KInfoCenter utility
    Hmm -

Here KInfoCenter (Partition Information) only show info of mounted partitions. SCSI show sata devices. CD-ROM show ide cd/dvd. Don't find ide devices..

System settings >(Advanced) > Available Disks and filesystems.
    Show unmounted partitions and disks..

In the konsole: lshw - list hardware
lshw is a small tool to extract detailed information on the hardware configuration of the machine. It can report exact memory configuration, firmware version, mainboard configuration, CPU version and speed, cache configuration, bus speed, etc. on DMI-capable x86 or IA-64 systems and on some PowerPC machines (PowerMac G4 is known to work).

    There is also hardinfo:
    Displays system information
HardInfo is a small application that displays information about your
hardware and operating system. Currently it knows about PCI, ISA PnP, USB,
IDE, SCSI, Serial and parallel port devices.
    Before you edit, BACKUP !

        Re: IDE disk

The situation is as follows ...

        1. The hardinfo crashes upon the Storage selection.
        2. Under the Settings, appears only the Emerald Theme Manager.

Is there another way ? ...
