I found it! Right under my nose. Just add more than one "homepage" to your homepage in Firefox>Edit>Preferences>Main>HomePage. Separate the different "homepages" with a '|'. They will all show up on separate tabs.

To get more than one set, you'll have to generate additional profiles following the link posted by UnicornRider.

many thanks for the tip - but I could have told you that, actually. I read it in a "PCPro" I had picked up for a long train ride a while ago. You just have to edit in the complete URL, incl. the http://... Currently, I have a four-tab-Homepage, i.e. four different forums are loaded right on startup.
The Link UnicornRider postet was precisely what I was looking for as far as I can tell. I'm just undecided which would be the easier way here.

@Ant2ne,
are you still here? Was it complicated to get those different profiles in Konq or is there a button/ sth. similar to do it? I really have no preferences as to my browser and there's no particular reason I'm using Firefox, so if it's easier to implement those profiles in Konq, I'll switch.

Hi,

now I've found a documentation on how to create profiles in Konqueror, it seems to be pretty easy - only I can't quite figure it out because the documentation is for an english Konqueror, I've got a German one and the menus seem to be slightly different. In "Einstellungen > Konqueror einrichten", there's nothing called "View profiles" or something else identifiable.

I love Kubuntu, but the first thing I did was install Firefox and the necessary plug-ins (cause I love Firefox too). Crossing between XP and Linux, Firefox keeps things consistent for me.

load all the tabs how you want them and then
settings menu->configure view profiles
enter the profile name, and click save.

I found the setting now, although it's all in German. It's actually in the same place, in "Einstellungen > Ansichtsprofil speichern" Only that button is grayed out.
Any idea what I have to do to activate it?

Hi all,

I'd still be grateful for an answer here.
In the meantime, though, I found a wonderfully easy workaround. Not as elegant as profiles, but working: The session management - open as many Konqueror windows as you need, each with a different set of tabs, and just click on "save session". Obviously, on the next startup, they will all appear on the same Desktop - I have eight, but haven't yet found a way to change that - so you'll have to move them to different workspaces manually, but that's no more effort than loading a profile in Konqueror.
The speed problem in Konqueror when you're connected via a router seems to have been fixed in one of the latest updates, now Konq is just as nice and speedy as Firefox.

I don't know why that is greyed out. And I can't duplicate it. Nor do I speak german and can't tell you if you are looking at the right screen.

well, I am German and I can tell you with certainty that I'm looking at the right menu option, it's the exact translation of "Save view profile".
Well, maybe I'll come upon an answer somewhere else.

On a whim I did this. Thought it pertinent to the converstion. Which one has more option and is more customizable on start up.

One problem with Konq is that it crashes sometimes when I access my online Yahoo e-mail, SOMETIMES. This is the only place I've had it crash. So for this ONE occurance I need another browser.

Sometimes when accessing a message, it just conks out konq. Also the new yahoo mail beta isn't supported. Probably a related issue, and when yahoo mail beta leaves beta, it will work just fine.
