    I broke Kubuntu

I was trying to install KPlayer in Edgy Eft, and after many failed attempts at the list on its website (since it was not in Adept), I decided to restart (I forget why). When I tried to log back in, it stops while logging on, and says that it cannot write to $Home, and therefore, cannot start.

Is there anyway I can fix this? If there isn't, getting rid of the partition holding Kubuntu and installing Feisty Fawn could be an option, because there is nothing important on the partition.

On a related note, how do I remove choices from GRUB?

Can't help you with main problem but to change grub just delete entries from /boot/grub/menu.lst (goes without saying but be careful what you delete)
Or you may want to check out SUM, which can is a gui for changing many startup settings
