Beryl + nvidia + kubuntu 6.10. color depth problem

Hello, It's me again. I decided to install beryl. Everything seems to work except window decorations.

from the output in konsole I believe that the problem is with 32 bit colors. How do I change that?
I tried using the nvidia X server settings, but it doesn't let me do that.
This message appeared when I tried changing from 32 bit to 16 bit colors:



Any ideas?

A 'suggestion.'

Are you accessing the NVIDIA application as 'root'? The X-server, which you are trying to update, is controlled by root. If you can run the application from KDE as root, I would try that. If running the application from KDE is not supported, open a konsole window and run 'kdesu [application name]' which should launch the application as root/superuser.

I think Snowhog has the right idea. In the console window, give it

sudo nvidia-settings

Then set up your display and use the "Save to X configuration" button in the lower right of your Nvidia utility to write the settings into xorg.conf.

After you restart the xserver (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace), in the console window you can enter

nvidia-settings

(no sudo needed), and you should be able to see that your settings are as you chose when you were the Super User.
