Recent install of Kubuntu 25.04 on Razer Blade 15" (2020) with 4K OLED screen.
As I adjust brightness from 100% down to about 80%, black or near-black colors actually become brighter and washed out. With a dark mode theme the screen overall become significantly brighter even on just a transition from 100% to 95%, and is brightest at about 80%. Then from 80% down to 0% it gets darker overall.
It seems that for another other than 100% brightness, ir "forgets" that it has the full gamut of colors including true black. It looks like it is trying to to make the OLED display emulate the washed out look of a backlit display!
On some research, I've found that there are "color profiles" that may have something to do with this or help correct it. I tried copying the color profile (Blade.ism) from the Windows system the Razer Blade came with, then selecting that in Kubuntu>Settings>Display>Color Profile>ICC profile>Selected path to the Blade.icm file. However this did not make a perceivable different in the color/brightness behavior.
I've also learned about packages/tools such as colord-kde, colormgr, and colord-brightness (https://github.com/Nikl174/colord-brightness) and will begin tinkering soon.
But it occurs to me this is something that by now should have a fairly straightforward solution, and a bit surprising the latest Kubuntu, et al, don't do the colors/brightness correctly on OLED screens out of the box. Maybe all I need is to know the "correct" .icf or .icm file and where to get it?
Any help/insights appreciated.
