There were a bunch of NVIDIA updates yesterday to version 535.54.03, which I dutifully applied and left it to do its thing while reading an article in Firefox in another workspace.
Suddenly the screen went black and the monitor into sleep mode but the PC was still on.
I left it for a while to make sure it was done and shut down and restarted the machine. It came back OK and I ran:
Which threw up a bunch of errors so I removed the drivers, reinstalled them and rebooted and things were back to normal!
