How to: cell borders in Libre Office calc (possibly other stuff)

The common bleat by people new to Linux from MS products is "working with the MS format".

So, this is for folks new to Linux or Libre Office.

One complaint that was posted a lot was how to get the spreadsheet to keep the formatting of such things as cell borders, etc.

"The way" to get LO to keep cell formatting, such as borders, saving the size of the cell etc. is to save it as "ods" not as "csv".

The default is .csv and new folks may just opt for that and not consider the myriad of other options.

If one needs to have the sheet interact with MS products just save it twice, once as .ods and the other in the desired MS format.

HOWEVER a BIG LEARNING POINT is ....just how often does one need to actually "interact" with a MS product?

If one is merely producing a sheet to print, etc. then one does not NEED to save it as a MS format. If one does so need, then the option is available with a click of the drop down menu.

Also, some time back, when it was OO, OO calc started saving the "previous" opener, such as tab or comma delimited.

If anyone has tidbits that might encourage new folks to use LO, please post them.
