Where can XFCE window manager be DLed

Have heard a lot of comments on the window manager and would like to take a look at it. Can it be gotten with apt-get and if so, whats would you ask it to get?

    Install XFCE

Not sure if it can be gotten with apt-get, but here is how I did it. Hope I didn't leave anything out.

First you will need to install the following packages:

    libncurses5-dev
    libsm-dev
    libice-dev
    libdbh1.0-dev
    a2ps
    libxpm-dev
    libvte-dev
    libgtk2.0-dev
    dbus-1-dev
    libxml2-dev
    dbus-glib-1-dev

You may or may not need all of them, or you may need more, see below.

Then download and install the following (there are instructions on how to install them on the sites):

    xfce4-4.2.1.1-installer.bin
    gtk2-xfce-engine-4.2.1-installer.bin
    xfce-goodies-4.2.1-installer.bin
    Terminal-0.2.4-installer.bin

During the installation of the above items, if you require more packages, it will tell you.

After you finish installing, you can log out of your current desktop and choose the xfce session. Hope this helps.

      I think:
      Code:
      sudo apt-get install xfce4
Should do it... at least on Breezy...

You could also do this apt-get in breezy:

          sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

then you will get XFCE and the basic applications for it, terminal, mediaplayer etc.

I have it installed on my old laptop, it runs great.

I'm thinking about installing xubuntu on old computer I have lying aroung, but it does not have a direct internet connection, does anybody know whether the xfce packages are available from the dvd or whether there is another way of installing xubuntu offline?

              thanks in advance

You can get it through Synaptic, but you have to enable extra repositories first. Then you can
                Code:
                sudo apt-get update
                sudo apt-get install xfce4

I don't like to interrupt, jacklin, but i'm surprised you could see this thread through all the rust.
